National Respect for Centenarians Day

The first Sunday of October was declared as the National Respect for Centenarians Day. It is mandated by the Centenarian Act, signed by President Duterte last September 26, 2016.

The Centenarians Act of 2016 gives honor to all Filipinos who reach 100 years old of age (neglecting where ever they live) “in recognition of their longevity”.

Centenarians are given a Plaque of Recognition along with a “centenarian gift” in the amount of Php 100,000 from their respective municipality. The President himself also gives them a gift and letter of felicitation.
